(Reuters) — Insurers and disaster modelers on Monday estimated insured losses in Florida of up to $9 billion from Hurricane Wilma, making it among the 10 most expensive hurricanes ever, but well below Katrina's $35 billion. Shares of insurers with heavy exposure to Florida, like Allstate Corp., were little changed, in part because the state caps insurers' losses from hurricanes.

Disaster modeling agency EQECAT estimated insured losses at $2 billion to $6 billion. Later, AIR Worldwide issued an estimate of $6 billion to $9 billion. Both companies are privately held.
